Student Information
The student social scene in Glasgow is generally considered to be the liveliest in Scotland. Whilst the city may not offer the same volume of cultural venues as Edinburgh, Glasgow offers visitors vibrant clubs, bars, and other entertainment opportunities such as cinemas and bowling alleys.
The city itself is famed for its live music scene, and numerous famous live music venues, as well as its football, with the city home to Scotland's two biggest clubs: Celtic and Rangers. Glasgow is also home to a number of popular festivals, including the Glasgow jazz festival, the Glasgow comedy festival and the Glasgow film festival.
Because of Glasgow's large student population, finding part-time or temporary employment in the city is relatively easy for students: bar and retail work are the most common sources of employment. The University of Strathclyde also offers a job finding service, offering students information about the vacancies currently available in the city. This service can be accessed both online or by visiting the student's union's office on the university's main campus.
