Student Information
Glasgow is a vibrant city with a lot to offer its student population. The city offers a wealth of student bars and clubs, as well as cultural attractions such as art galleries and annual festivals. When you arrive, take time to familiarise yourself with Glasgow's extensive transport system: doing so will save you time and confusion in the long run! Keep in mind the many student discounts available, for transport, attractions and other venues. Many students find it hard to budget their money when living away from home for the first time, but student discounts can reduce entertainment and travel costs.
If you find yourself in financial difficulty whilst in Glasgow, consider contacting the university or the government for financial support. You can also take on a part-time job, to increase your income without interfering with your studies. Luckily however, Glasgow is an affordable place to live and study. It is easy to get swept up in the excitement of university life in a new city; remember that whilst it is important to have fun it is also important to keep safe. Keeping basic common sense measures in mind, such as locking doors and windows when you leave your property and walking home at night in a group, should ensure that your university experience is crime-free.
