Transport

Edinburgh is a major Scottish transport hub connecting the city, by both road and rail, with most Scottish cities as well as many cities in England, including London. Getting to and from the city by road or train is usually relatively simple. Edinburgh Airport offers flights to destinations worldwide, including Berlin, Prague and New York. Low cost airlines offer deals at prices even students can afford, with return tickets to Amsterdam starting at around fifty pounds.

Edinburgh has several large train stations, the largest of which is Waverley Station. Services from Waverley connect Edinburgh to towns and cities throughout Scotland, but also take passengers to destinations throughout England, including Birmingham and London.
The city itself is served by extensive bus routes, which cover the city centre, the main student areas and the city suburbs.

There are two bus companies operating in and around Edinburgh: Lothian buses and First Edinburgh buses. First Edinburgh offers travellers transport to destinations that are further afield, while Lothian buses focus mainly on routes in central Edinburgh. Lothian monthly bus tickets are available to students from just
£35, while First monthly tickets start at £45. For more information see the Lothian and First websites.
