Accommodation
As with the vast majority of Universities in the UK, Aberdeen offers its students a range of different accommodation options, to suit all preferences and budgets. At least for their first year, most students opt to stay in one of the university's halls of residence. These offer individual rooms for students, often with shared communal areas such as a TV room, and shred facilities such as a laundrette and student bar. Some halls of residence offer en-suite rooms which are a little more expensive.
Halls of residence are a great way to meet people, whilst retaining the privacy of your own bedroom. The halls offer students catered or self-catered accommodation; catered accommodation is more expensive but includes two meals a day and brunch on a Sunday.
If you would prefer to live in private accommodation there are many places to live near to Aberdeen University. A room in shared private accommodation tends to cost less than a room in halls of residence, but the rent will not include utility bills, internet connection or food. Nevertheless, most students opt to live in private residences for their second and third years, sharing accommodation with friends. Private accommodation has become even more popular in recent years, as accommodation becomes more and more limited at the university itself.
