Transport
Northern Ireland has an extensive public transport network which makes it easy for students to get from A to B. There are several flights to London and other UK and Irish cities each day, and direct flights are available to most Europe capitals from one of the country's three airports: Belfast International, George Best Belfast City Airport and the City of Derry Airport.
There are also some direct flights available to America. Alternatively, the major sea ports of Larne and Belfast run regular ferry services between Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
Once in Northern Ireland, there are several rail and bus networks available for students to use. Passenger railways are operated by Northern Ireland Railways, which connects every major town and city in the region, including Bangor, Larne, Derry, Coleraine and Portrush. Along with Irish Rail, 'Iarnrod Éireann', Northern Ireland Railways runs an 'Enterprise' rail service across the Irish border, connecting Belfast and Dublin.
Northern Ireland Railways are complemented by the regional bus services Ulsterbus and Metro. Ulsterbus operates outside of Belfast, offering intercity bus services and a 'University Link' service between Queen's University of Belfast and the University of Ulster's Jordanstown campus. Metro bus services operate within Belfast, linking each area of the city.
The Translink website has details of all the public transport services operating in Northern Ireland, as well as details of special services, timetables and fares.
