Queen's University Belfast
As one of the most respected universities in the United Kingdom, Queen’s University in Belfast is soon to invest a massive £259 million in new staff and improved teaching, research and living facilities for students in order to further enhance its reputation. Luckily for students, the campus facilities in Belfast are already among the best in the UK.
The university buildings span some of the most attractive areas of the city, and are host to some of Belfast’s major cultural festivals and exhibitions. As well as hosting an annual arts festival every November, the university also owns the UK’s only university-run cinema, and in 2001 it opened its own art gallery. As part of the new investment, a new student theatre is planned, all in addition to the top-rate teaching and sports facilities that already exist at the university.
With close to twenty-five thousand students, the university is spread across three main campus buildings, all located in the Belfast area. The students' union is one of the biggest in the UK and covers numerous services such as a careers advice centre, a financial support centre, shops, canteens and bars. Also, as union members, students have the opportunity to join one of the numerous university sports clubs, or one of the many non-sports societies.
