Eligibility to Live in the UK

Only British citizens, that is, holders of a British passport, have an automatic right to live permanently in the United Kingdom without immigration restrictions.

You can apply to live and work in the UK regardless of your nationality, but you may find that the process is easier if you are a British Commonwealth citizen, or an EEA national. You can also claim asylum in the UK if you are fleeing persecution in your own country and wish to be considered as an Asylum Seeker.

However, every application to live in the UK can be rejected as well as accepted; you should double check with the British embassy in your own country as to which procedures you will be required to follow.
