Types of Accommodation
When moving to a new country or city it is important to find a suitable place to stay. There are many different types of property available in the Netherlands, all of different sizes and prices. Before you can choose a property you should consider the following points:
- Where do you want to live?
- How much do you have available to spend on accommodation each month?
- Would you like to share a house with flatmates?
- Would you like to live alone?
- Are you comfortable sharing a bathroom and kitchen?
- How much space do you need?
- Should the property be furnished or do you have your own furniture?
Available property is often limited in the Netherlands, and students and newcomers find it especially difficult to find something suitable. As a result, people may try to avoid the regular property market and make their home in places intended only as recreational properties, such as caravans or houseboats. It goes without saying that this practice is not allowed.
