In your search for accommodation it is easy to overlook an important source: flyers and advertisements posted in the streets. This is a very common practice throughout Italy, especially popular among the student community. Notices are typically posted in libraries, on bulletin boards, on lampposts and walls, and may detail offers or requests for accommodation. Should you wish to post your own flyer it should be bold and attract attention with a brief, printed text including details of who you are, what you hope to find and roughly how much you are prepared to pay. At the bottom of the page it is a good idea to cut the paper into strips, and write your name and telephone number or e-mail address on each one. Interested parties can tear off a strip and get in touch with you. Clearly posted flyers in busy areas are an extremely cheap, easy and efficient way to find accommodation.
