Complaints & Problems

It is possible that at some stage you may have a problem with your rental contract, the property, or your landlord, or you may wish to make a complaint. There are certain consumer protection services to whom you can turn for assistance.

The German Rental Association (Deutsche Mieterbund) offers an advice service. You will normally however, be required to pay a charge for their assistance. They have over three hundred information centres: more information is available via their website www.mieterbund.de or by telephone on +49 (0) 1805 835 835.

Many universities have a free advice service run by students for students which can advise you on your rental rights.

On the internet there are several rental rights forums where you can ask questions and discuss your problems or concerns.
