I am currently studying in Germany as part of an exchange program for 5 months. I went to the doctors last week with a fever and he asked me for my NHS insurance card. Do we have such a card? If so, how do I apply for one and can they send it to me abroad or do I have to be in the UK?

I think he must have just meant your EHIC card. Perhaps it got lost in translation J obviously we don’t have an insurance card as the NHS is free. If I remember correctly Germany has a system where they need insurance cards to prove that they are covered, we don’t have this in the UK. Do you have your EHIC card? Did you show him this?
