I have no idea what’s happening, but in November last year I applied for unemployment insurance (EDD) benefits and had an interview late December. They then started paying me checks and it has been fine for ages, but then all of a sudden they stopped paying the checks and sent me a letter saying I have another interview. Is this normal? Do people usually have a second interview even though they had already been paying me for ages?

Perhaps you have been red flagged and so they are giving you another interview to find out if your current situation has changed and if you forgot to tell them something. In the worst case scenario, they could have realized that you weren’t entitled and they may ask you to pay back the money, but this is unlikely.
