How long does it take to get the health insurance EHIC card?

I am going on holiday soon and have not had chance to get my health insurance EHIC renewed. I am not sure if I have enough time to get a new one or whether it is better to take out an extra cover? What companies can I take out health insurance with for a 5 week trip to Italy if the EHIC doesn’t come in time? |

Well you should definitely apply online to try and save time: https://www.ehic.org.uk/Internet/home.do i think it takes around 7-10 days to arrive so I think if it is really last minute you are better off getting another insurance. Insurance for Italy probably wont be that expensive, if I were you I would try the comparison sites online to get the best deal. But be sure to check what type of medical cover they offer and whether they will pay for you to be flown back early in a case of emergency! |
