Help getting travel insurance: high altitude not covered?

Hello fellow trekkers, I'm trying to get a good trekking travel insurance. High altitude treks don't seem to be covered by a lot of insurers and I'm looking for something that would allow me to climb to around 4,000m. Can anyone recommend an insurer? |

I've faced this same problem myself looking for insurance that would let me trek at 4,500m. I don't understand why travel insurers don't offer more trekking options... It's actually pretty safe if you're going on a well traversed route with a guide, and loads of people go trekking each year, also at high altitude! I only found out that the trek wasn't covered by my insurance by chance... and however safe it may be I'm not willing to take the risk of paying £25,000 to be lifted off a mountain! STA covered my trip and were friendly too, I recommend giving them a call. |
