I will be going abroad as part of my course and have been told that I will need to find travel insurance (medical elective students covered). But everywhere I look I cant seem to find insurance that covers us and also covers cancellations. Has anyone been in a similar situation and can perhaps recommend a company? Thanks

I used www.weslyan.co.uk they had the cover that I needed and weren’t so pricey. But it really does depend on a lot of factors not just on covering medical students. You have to know in depth details on where you will be going and what you will be dealing with. They will want to know if the cover they offer is worth giving you. But they definitely do cover cancellations, its on their website. But as with all covers, make sure you read it in detail.
