Does anyone have a favourite, family and friends tip for travel insurance? NFU Mutual offer a good level of cover and I like the fact that there are lots of local branches so you can speak to a real person. But I don't know anyone who has travel insurance with them!

Ah NFU, the cute countryside insurer! I like that they insure tractors and cows! NFU Mutual are very well respected, which says a lot in these times of crackpot insurers and flighty bank managers... As you say, one of the advantages of a 'traditional' company is that they offer 'traditional' customer service, which means, for their travel insurance, an English speaking emergency call centre available 24/7. If you like their policy and the price is fair, stick to what you know and trust!
