What is the difference between the National Savings’ Direct ISA and a Cash ISA? I have been looking into getting an ISA, and my mom said that NSI are the best but I am not sure what the difference I between all the different ISA’s I have heard about. If I wanted to invest about £3000 which one would be best?

I think you are a little bit confused. The direct ISA is a Cash ISA. They are not different products. If you look on their website it explains what the Direct ISA offers: http://www.nsandi.com/products/disa/index.jsp but at least the amount you have is right as you can only invest up to £3,600 per tax year with an ISA so that puts you within the correct band.
