I think that I may have overpaid in to my tax free savings. RBC I remember mentioned that I could only put $5,000 a year but when I set up the direct debit I thought that I had calculated it correctly for the year but I forgot to add the amount I deposited in the first month. Now that I have gone over what will happen? Will I be charged? Will they close my account? Who should I contact?

You would know if you had over contributed as the Canada Revenue Agency are informed and then you are charged per month on your excess. It isn’t so much so the easiest solution is just to go and take out the excess and then make sure you cancel your direct debit if you have already come to your limit for the year.
