Saving on tax would be a great and we are very interested in tax free savings at CIBC and we have always banked with them so I don’t want to change. But can anyone tell me how we could arrange it so that we both have access to each others funds? Is there some kind of form that I can fill in to give her access to my account and vice-versa?

I doubt it would be possible with a TFSA as they are individual accounts and I don’t think you have the option to give access to anyone else unfortunately. I just had a quick look on their website to confirm and it seems its true you wont be able to: http://cibc.intelliresponse.com/public/en/index.jsp?interfaceID=8&requestType=NormalRequest&source=3&question=Can%20I%20open%20a%20spousal%20Tax-Free%20Savings%20Account%20(TFSA)%20or%20contribute%20to%20my%20spouse%27s%20TFSA%3F&id=1476
