Maybe this will seem like a strange question to some of you who have banked with building societies for a long time, but I have always been with Barclays and have always felt safe in knowing what a large reputable bank they were. However I have been recommended to take out a Yorkshire building society ISA due to the rate it offers and the terms that suit my needs, but I am a little worried. Are BS’s safe to count on? What are the differences?

Well I had a look online and many sites are saying that there are many BS’s offering very good ISA rates etc, but I suppose this doesn’t necessarily mean they are safe.
Also very interesting:

  • Tax rules for pensions contributions?
  • New pensions & 2006 rules...
  • Do I have to give notice to withdraw from a cash ISA (Halifax)?
