My husband and I thought that it would be a good idea to take advantage of the tax free savings account TD introduced last year by opening a few to cover our savings. Is this possible? We wouldn’t necessarily have to stay with TD if that was a problem.

Good news and bad news im afraid! Good news: You can have more than one tax free savings account with TD or any other bank. Bad news: No matter how many accounts you have your limit will always be the same ($5,000) you cannot add extra just because you open more than one account. You have to keep within the limits so I doubt you will be able to put much of your savings in there, you are allowed one each!
