I have £20,000 that I would like to invest. But I am not looking for anything risky as it is a lot of money for me to play with. Can anyone advise me on the National Savings’ certificates (index-linked savings certificates) I heard that perhaps they were quite secure but was wondering whether it would be worth it financially for me by the end. Say for example if I wanted to invest 20k for 3 years, what would it be worth after the period ends?

Well the good thing about the certificates is that they are tax-free which could save you a few bob. But the problem is that you are saying you want to invest 20 thousand. The certificates have a maximum of 15. So unless you are willing to just put some of it away it may not be worth it for you. Perhaps it would be worth seeing a professional and getting their advice, even if you don’t want a lot of risk there may be better opportunities for you out there.
