My education loan payments are already creeping up to become a sizeable chunk of my outgoings... Has anyone done private education loan consolidation before? Does it drastically reduce payments?

It's impossible to say that it will be a 'drastic' reduction... But the point of consolidating in the first place is to make your repayments more manageable. Usually the loans are combined into one big loan (consolidated!) and then you only have to make ONE repayment. This reduces the stress of making several different repayments at different times. In addition, the repayment is usually at least a bit cheaper than before – often drastically This helps to give you some breathing space when it comes to budgeting! I'd definitely recommend getting a quote or two, just to see if it would be a good option for you or not.
