When do I need to start thinking about applying for student loans/bursaries? I have just finished my AS’ and about to go on to my A2’s and will be applying for uni around December. Is this the right time to be applying for loans too or do I have to wait until I have been accepted into a course before I can ask for financial support? Also where do I find more information about bursaries and perhaps even grants? I want to be well prepared and I have been told that there are thousands of grants available that people don’t even know about.

You don’t need to rush into the student loan bit, you will be informed of all the procedures to take once you start applying for uni. I think that UCAS helps you through it all anyway. However start searching early for grants. Look on the grant directory pages and try and get the grant directory book from your college (most colleges have one) as many grants have a lot of applications or even expect early applications so the earlier the better.
