I have to fill out a student loan application form for my daughter's loans, and a fellow parent tells me that my child's information is protected. Is the form confidential? Am I not allowed to know about her financing?

The information you give is private and confidential and can't be accessed by your daughter. It also works the other way around, so you won't have access to her details. She can choose to give you access, but she doesn't have to do it. Try and remember that although she's your child she's almost certainly an adult already, and about to embark on her own adventure. It might be good training for you, not to have instant access to every detail of her life

I have never understood this, they base the amount which the your son/daughter gets by how much you earn and then you are not allowed to have access to all of the details of how much he/she will get in the end of it. Why should they base it on parents earnings, shouldn’t everyone get the same and then if some are fortunate enough to not need it they can pay it back.
