I'm a bit confused by the deadlines section on the student finance PN1 form! It says I need to send it in by a certain date and then it says latest within nine months of course beginning!!

No, what it means is this: if you want to guarantee that your loan application can be processed before you go to university then you will need to return the form by the specified deadline. If you decide to apply for a loan later on, perhaps because you're not sure if you'll get a place at university, you can still send the form in, but it must be within nine months of your course starting. If the form arrives within this time, the loan application can be processed but you may not get your money straightaway. If you miss this final deadline, and send the form in after ten months, they will probably not process the application at all. This means you won't get any money for the first year.
