I am going to have to try and extend my student overdraft even though it is at its maximum, but I am desperate need. Does anyone know whether the Royal Bank of Scotland, Wishaw (Main Street branch) is very strict on this or whether under certain situations they are willing to make an exception? If not is there any way that I could possibly open another account with another overdraft? |

I think it doesn’t really matter what branch you go to as they should all have the same policy…… and that is probably to not give you any more, and if they do it will probably before a charge. If they don’t I doubt you will be able to get another student account as when you apply they will see that you already have an overdraft with RBS and will refuse. All student accounts are usually opened under the condition that it is your main current account, it cant be your main current account if you have a larger overdraft with another bank. Credit cards are the devil, but if you are in desperate need of money and the overdraft cant be extended, then perhaps try and see if RBS will give you a credit card for a short term solution…..don’t go OTT. But you are more likely to get approved a credit card from your own bank than elsewhere so stick with them!! Good luck!!! |
