What's the best way to maximise your state pension? Married couple is always given less than two singles so can we claim as singles?

You can't maximise your state pension by lying, that's not how it works. And I'd be surprised if no-one saw through your 'scam' to claim as two singles when Mr Jones and Mrs Jones are each applying for a pension as singles while living at the same address... The penalties for fraud are pretty serious and for the money you'll get as two singles, less than £2,000 a year more than a married couple, you may want to reconsider the risk of prison! If you have problems coping on a married couple's pension there are other financial handouts you can pursue, like Pensions Credit or Savings Credit, which top up your income.
