What's the best way to maximise your state pension? Married couple is always given less than two singles so can we claim as singles? |

You can't maximise your state pension by lying, that's not how it works. And I'd be surprised if no-one saw through your 'scam' to claim as two singles when Mr Jones and Mrs Jones are each applying for a pension as singles while living at the same address... The penalties for fraud are pretty serious and for the money you'll get as two singles, less than £2,000 a year more than a married couple, you may want to reconsider the risk of prison! If you have problems coping on a married couple's pension there are other financial handouts you can pursue, like Pensions Credit or Savings Credit, which top up your income. |
