I opened a Halifax guaranteed saver when I was 18 and at the time the minimum opening balance was at £1 but now I am approaching 21 I was wondering whether I am going to have to put more money in to it. I saw that the minimum opening balance for over 21s is £2,500 so I was wondering whether I will have to raise up my balance to this amount in order to keep the account open?

In one word…. NO!!! as you said, this is the minimum OPENING blanace, it doesn’t mena you have to stay at this amount, so even if you had opened it with this amount you don’t have to stay at this amount. But I would advise you to have a look around instead of just staying with the same saver, especially if you have been able to save a few bob!
