I was hoping to open a Bradford and Bingley offshore savings account as the international rate is fantastic at the moment and also as I travel quite a lot I like the idea of being able to bank in sterling, euros and dollars. However before I take the plunge (seeing as the minimum is quite a high deposit) I want to make sure that they are safe. Can anyone reassure me please?

Well people can try and reassure you however if Icelandic banks Kaupthing and Landsbanki are anything to go buy then I would say that no, they are not safe at the moment. However I am not sure whether the difference here being that it is an offshore account provided by Bradford and Bingley, whether or not it would make a difference.
