I would like to make some voluntary contributions to my pension fund but I know that I am not allowed to go over a certain amount right? Does anyone know where I will be able to find out the pension earnings cap for 2009/2010?

Mycompanypension online has lots of information regarding the rules and regulations about company pensions. If you have a look at this page http://www.mycompanypension.co.uk/Earnings-Cap-and-Notional-Earnings-Cap it shows you the exact amount for each year over the past 20 years.
