Someone I know mentioned that annuity rates have fallen considerably and that what we get for our pensions now is nothing in comparison to what we would have got for the same amount back in the 90’s. This has interested me and I would like to look more in to the annuity rates historical values and whether this is really the case, as obviously our wages have also risen over this period, so in theory would we have been able to achieve this pension beforehand?

I read something about this recently also, and was equally shocked. I am not sure fi salary does have an effect as you mentioned and it would seem wise that it could have an effect but there has been a drop in the rates of around 9%, does this equal out to the increase of wages and inflation etc? http://www.rightannuity.co.uk/news/just-how-far-have-pension-annuity-rates-fallen/
