I have just been informed that I apparently owe the Inland Revenue approximately £600 for previous tax years even though I only just recently paid back several hundred pounds AND I have continued to pay tax out of my pensions. How can they do this to people on meager pensions? Inland Revenue always finds a way of telling us we owe money when I am sure this time I don’t, any idea?

My suggestion would be to just contact them, ask to speak to someone to clarify your tax obligations.

As a retired person I would say you are definitely being overcharged.

From personal experience I would suggest that you do everything in writing, not going to the office. A lot of the time one person tells you one thing and then you have no proof of this later on. In writing at least when they reply you have evidence that they told you this and that!
