I've been researching investment options abroad because I decided that spreading out my financial portfolio would be even more effective if I also invested with different people in different companies and, hopefully, can benefit from different techniques and strategies. I particularly like the look of Charles Schwab. Can I open a Schwab retirement money fund from the UK? Or do you need to be a US citizen to qualify for US products?

You don't need to be a US citizen to get a retirement fund with them: they even have a UK site, charlesschwab.co.uk. I'm not sure you'll be able to organise all the same accounts / products though... A lot of the deals in America are for funds that you can't organise when you're not American, like the Roth IRA. The UK site offers a lot of investment options but I can't see a specific retirement fund. It would be worth getting in touch with them and asking what they could organise for you: you'll probably need to tell them how much you can invest and what risks you're willing to take.
