I've got a bit of a query about getting a loan in the UK: is there a different financial approach to personal loans? Queensland bank, where I bank usually, gives loans of $3,000 plus. My mate here said you can borrow any amount of money, also less. Is this true?

It's not true that you can borrow any amount of money as a personal loan. If you only need a small amount, like £500, it makes a lot more sense to arrange an interest-free overdraft or get a credit card with low fees and low rates. If you're borrowing less than £3,000 then a personal loan may not be right for you. The terms of a loan have to make sense for the lender and for you! I don't imagine the banking systems are all that different.
