I am pregnant and I am going to stop working early as I have unfortunately been very stressed at work and I am scared that it will affect the baby’s health if I don’t slow down soon. I am not due to go on maternity leave for another month now so I know my income will be lower but I am not sure what to do about my mortgage payments (Halifax variable mortgage rate). I am a single mom so no help from the dad unfortunately. Any ideas?

I just had a quick look on the Halifax FAQ pages and there is a section about mortgage payment holidays. If you look on there it actually mentions that one of the main reasons they give mortgage payment holidays is due to maternity leave. So I am sure that if you go in branch and explain the situation to them they will figure something out for you. Remember though, you are only allowed 6 months and this is forever, they will only give you up to 6 months so really figure it out wisely and decide when is the right time for you.
