The unit I currently work for will be closing in 11months, just 6 months before I reach retirement age. Is there any way to get an early retirement on NHS Pension Scheme? Or is 6 months not long enough? If not I am not sure what i would do for these 6 months, but I am guessing they would make me pay a penalty to try and get the pension early, right?

Women under 60 can still apply for income support so you could just claim that as long as you don’t have any other savings over 15k I think. Perhaps contact your union and explain to them, maybe they will have some more information.  http://www.monetos.co.uk/pensions/state-pensions/state-benefits/income-support/
