What is the Halifax standard variable rate?

Baines Baines Topic creator Posts: 6	I cant seem to find any fixed rate mortgages at the moment I am guessing as they are not stupid and are sure the rate will increase in the near future. But say if I were to take out a 60% mortgage, what is the Halifax standard variable rate at the moment?

Hopkins Hopkins Posts: 4	Is this your first house? As far as I am aware Halifax is still offering 60% fixed rate mortgages. I mean I am not entirely sure of the details but if you are planning to borrow less than 500k then they offer 2 year fixed rate mortgages. I think the best thing to do would be to make an appointment with them and to discuss your options. It is all well doing some research online beforehand to get the average market rates but I think to actually discuss the mortgage, you will need to see an advisor directly.
Also very interesting: Putting the mortgage early repayment calculator into practice! Is it really a good idea to compare mortgages online when they're so important? How can I research the very best mortgages online? Where to find an interest rate differential calculator? How can a no credit finance angel be considered bad? In arrears & mortgage lender won't negotiate. Can anyone help? Can I have my Alliance and Leicester interest rate for my mortgage reduced? Is purchasing decreasing term insurance the best way to protect a mortgage? Is there a UK version of creditweb? Can I get a 100% mortgage / self certification mortgage combined?
