If I wanted to take out a Barclays tracker mortgage it says on the website that it comes through Woolwich….. why is this? Am I dealing with Woolwich or with Barclays? Who will I actually have to be dealing with in the event of a problem?

I would say Barclays but to be honest what difference does it make? If the rate is the one you want and you are sure the Barclays tracker mortgage is the one for you then it shouldn’t make any difference whether or not it comes directly from Barclays or not. Barclays is a bank and just like so many other banks it uses the services of other companies to provide clients with what they need. Do you think that Barclays home insurance actually is a Barclays company? It is provided by Barclays but they deal with a separate home insurance provider to cover you. Its just the way of the world im afraid.
