How are the banks filling the hole created by 100% mortgages going down the drain? What great mortgages deals for young people and first time buyers are available?

Actually some lenders still offer 100% mortgages, though the qualification criteria are probably stricter. You may be able to get one if you've got a fair credit record and a steady income. There are always going to be deals for first time buyers: if not the housing market will have real problems. You may have to wait a bit longer before buying though: if you can get a 95% mortgage on a 150,000 property, you'll still need a deposit of 7,500 which may take a while to save! Everyone's circumstances are different though: have you looked around online on the high street yet?
