Unfortunately we find ourselves in arrears with our mortgage and would like to negotiate a way forward. Despite arrears, mortgage lender claims we cannot ask for a better deal than we already have. How can we negotiate with them when they don't want to listen?

This could even be a case for the Ombudsman... Are they really acting unfairly? Have you sought legal advice? You could try again and explain that it is better for them to negotiate lower repayments with you now than wait for you to go bankrupt! At that point they'll have to sign off the debt as 'lost' and get what they can re-selling your home...

Have you looked in to the Mortgage rescue scheme? Obviously I don’t know much about your situation or whether you will be eligible but it could be an avenue to look down… http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/HomeAndCommunity/Keepingyourhomeevictionsandhomelessness/Mortgagesandrepossessions/DG_174005
