I bank with NatWest Edinburgh and I am hoping to extend my overdraft but I am not ure hwo to go about it. I am currently on holiday and I am not sure fi they will do it for me by phone, but I can hardly go back from Hong Kong now can i? icon_smile.gif I know that I am entitled to extend my overdraft, I am in my third year of uni and I am still on my first year rate, but I don’t know how to go about it. Is there a specific number that anyone knows that I can call? Or do you think if I fax them they might be able to do it for me as they will have my signature etc?

I would call them first and then ask them if you can fax them the details/authorization. I doubt they will let you just call up the branch and get the overdraft just like that, perhaps you could try your telephone banking if you have it, as I would have thought that they would be able to do it that way as you have a password and the security and so on.

Why would you need to have telephone banking I mean it isn’t like you are asking to have money transferred or whatever, you are still going to have to use your card and pin or online security to access the money so I don’t see why they cant just sort it out for you.

But perhaps they wouldn’t as they don’t just automatically give you a higher rate just cus you are in 3rd year, you have to do a review of your expenses and show why you need it and that you are living within your means just need a bit of extra money.

It is up to them whether they give it to you or not. They can say no if they want. But then again this is NatWest we are talking about, they always extend students overdrafts
