I know that obviously before I start University I will be opening a student bank account. The thing is I have to send off my student finance form (PN1) before the end of the month and I haven’t gotten round to opening an account yet and I was wondering, if I provide student finance with the details of my youth account will I have to always receive my student loan etc into this account and thus have to stay with the bank? Or am I able to change the details later on without them screwing up my money?

No it wont be any problem, there will always be a way of changing your account details. If you are worried that they may mess up the money just when you need it then perhaps leave it until you have received the first installment and then change it so that the second installment has a lot of time to come through and you can then check that they have received your new details. I know that they send you online log in details, perhaps you can alter details there also. If not check there website there must be a form for such things, I am sure it happens all the time
