I am currently in the UK on holiday from Australia and have taken ill. I am not sure what to do. I have health insurance bank in Australia but when I go to the doctors here I am not sure what I need to do. Do I just go straight to a Doctors practice or the hospital or someone I know recommended the walk in clinic. I have my health card with me but I am not sure whether they will accept it here. Will I have to give them my Medibank private health insurer ID as I cant seem to see this anywhere and a friend said that is the only way I am likely to be reimbursed. |

Reimbursed for what? The UK isn’t like other countries you don’t have to pay to see a doctor, the only thing you pay for is medicine and even that isn’t much. But if I am honest I have no idea how it works for foreigners when they are sick here but I am guessing the walk in clinic is your best bet as they just ask you to fill in a form and then wait…. But get ready to wait a long time!!!!! |

Do you mean for the medicine costs? Well i am actually not sure how this works as a foreigner in the UK but i am guessing you will be given a receipt so cant you just submit this to your health insurer/travel insurer once you return to Australia? |
