Does anyone have any good or bad reports on insurance companies or a way to objectively find the top insurance companies for cover and care?

I guess the top insurance companies for you will be the ones that offer security for the future and give you good cover at low cost. Of course, this may differ for someone else who is interested in finding the best insurance companies for cancer survivors or so on. I recently asked for a quote from Virgin Money, because their case studies seemed fair and cheap, but I haven't heard back yet. You have to give details such as whether you smoke and how long you need cover, so everyone's quote will vary.
