I'm going to be in between jobs for a few months and although my partner can cover the essentials I need to reduce our joint outgoings as much as possible. Can anyone advise on how to reduce life insurance payments for a short period: six months would be good?!

As with any loan or insurance premium payment, it's a good idea to communicate in advance, rather than act and hope for the best. If you contact your life insurance provider and explain the situation to them, they may well be able to help you: perhaps you can have a payment holiday and then make double payments for the six months following? Or you can negotiate reduced payments and pay the difference at a later date. Their decision may be based on how reliable you have been making payments in the past and how long you have been a customer. Whatever you decide to do, don't just stop making payments!

Who are you with? I agree though, don’t just stop paying, just give them a call, they can maybe give you a holiday period and include it in your policy so that it alters the amount of time you have paid in ever so slightly.
