I have heard of diabetic life insurance, and insurance to cover specific illnesses, but is there any assistance for smokers? As in a smoking life insurance? |

Smoking life insurance sounds like a hazard in itself, ha ha. I think you mean life insurance cover for smokers, right? As far as I can tell, most insurers will cover you if you are a smoker, but they will expect you to pay a higher price for your cover because you are at greater risk of dying young, and therefore are unlikely to pay your insurance premiums for years and years. Insurance companies tend to be strict: sometimes you may have to pay a 'smokers tarif' even if you've already quit! As with diabetic life insurance, there are services that compare insurance offers to find the best deal for smokers: these would be your best bet, as they try to find the lowest cost for cover. |

I have always wondered about this, how do the insurance companies define you as a smoker? What if you just have a cigar from time to time, ie once a month? Are you still considered a smoker even though you are not an addicted smoker? What happens if you were not a smoker but then started after you had taken out the policy, can they stop your policy? |
