I am looking to invest around £3000 a month in a long term savings account. I don’t know if I am being overoptimistic but when I went to me current bank they only offered me 0.60% I find that pitiful. Am I expecting too much or are there better ways to invest such a large amount each month.

Instead of the usual bank accounts/bonds etc why not try ZOPA? It works by you agreeing to lend money to people instead of them having to apply through banks, it is safe and you get to demand your own interest rate.

How could that work? Are they insured? What happens if people don’t pay you back?

Well from what I have read they don’t lend all your money to one person, but rather break it up amongst lots of people perhaps lowering the risk? It seems to have some good reviews and quite a lot of users so it can’t be all bad…… can it?
