I'm looking for long term saving solutions to ensure financial security in the future. Looking at lots of different kinds of investment, high interest rates are always pushed to the forefront... What are the best all-round investment deals, not just the best numbers this month?

You've hit the nail on the head here: it's not just the flashy adverts that count but the substance of the product on offer! Before you look at interest rates, special offers and free gifts, take the time to research the different types of investment and savings accounts available. If you have a clear idea of how each product works (look on Wikipedia or another general site), you can create a shortlist of those accounts / bonds etc. that fit in with your financial lifestyle. Only then, when you know what you're looking for, you can compare current deals and find a suitably flashy one. If you already know that a particular product fits the bill, getting the best interest rate is the icing on the cake!
