My friend is switching to Castle home insurance cover because it's cheaper for older people. Why is this?

I assume you mean, why is the home insurance cheaper rather than why does your friend want to save money? icon_wink.gif Castle Cover only insures people over fifty. Because they specialise in a particular demographic and deal with insurers who are prepared to assess this demographic differently, they can offer good deals. These deals are based on the statistical likelihood of an older person making a claim on their home insurance. It's much the same as car insurance for women: where the risk is lower, the premiums are lower too!

Thats quite strange, you would think that older people would get broken in to more than younger clients (I know that sounds very morbid - but a thief may see it as an easier target) Ah yeh but I suppose younger people are always out making the opportunity easier. But it says that older people claim less, I suppose that doesn’t necessarily mean that they get robbed less..... perhaps they just don’t claim.... oh I don’t know lol
